The Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich is one of the staple foods of Philadelphia. It is an excellent sandwich filled with flavorful vegetables, melted cheese, and delicious beef. It is a great sandwich to eat for lunch and dinner. This Philly Cheesesteak recipe is a bit different though as it also contains a delightful garlic mayo. Here are the ingredients that you will need.
One cup of mayo
Two onions sliced into rings
Pepper and salt to your taste
Two minced cloves of garlic
One tablespoon of olive oil
8 ounces (1 package) of shredded mozzarella cheese
One pound of round steak cut into thin slices
Two green bell peppers cut into ¼ inch slices
Four hoagie rolls
Preheat the oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, or 260 degree Celsius, and combine the one cup of mayo with the two mince garlic cloves in a small bowl. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over a medium heat and sauté the beef round steak slices until they are lightly browned. Once browned, add the onion rings, sliced pepper, salt, and pepper to the skillet and sauté until the vegetables are tender. Once tender, remove the skillet from the heat.
Coat the hoagie rolls lengthwise and toast them to your preference. Spread a generous amount of the garlic mayo in each bun and divide the steak and vegetable mixture between the four hoagies. Top the meat and vegetables with your shredded cheese, and sprinkle oregano over the cheese.
On a baking pan, place the sandwiches in the oven until the cheese is melted or slightly brown, whatever your preference is. Enjoy your Philly Cheesesteak sandwich!
